We are absolutely delighted to announce that Mr Nakamura of Pro Wrestling Zero 1 in Tokyo, Japan has invited SWS Graduate and SWA prodigy Joe Coffey to train at the Zero 1 Dojo in Tokyo for eight weeks. This is a massive opportunity for Joe, and we’re so very, very proud that he’s being given this opportunity to compete over there.
“Joe is the benchmark for young competitors in Scotland and will make something for himself in Pro Wrestling.” SWS Head Trainer, Damian O’Conor told InsideSWA as the news broke. “Success and nothing less, Joe!”
An intimidating sight for any opponent, the tank-like powerhouse Joe Coffey has excelled in just a few short years from being a student at the Source Wrestling School to the poster boy for SWA.
Believing in the spirit of true competition, Coffey strives to prove himself as a worthy and honourable competitor. A tactic that has seen him have a lot of success, particularly in his time as Laird of the Ring Champion. Having been the longest reigning Laird champ, Coffey has taken on any and all challengers, often offering members of the locker room the chance to battle for the title to gain as much experience as he could, learning from every move, mistake and victory.
As a disciplined athlete and personal trainer, Coffey knows how to stay strong and stay focused in his training which has made him a legitimate threat since his debut and after making waves recently when he came face to face with NJPW icon Fergal Devitt in the headline match at Clash of the Titans – a joint production between SWA and W3L – it showed that his disciplined mind and focused training had paid off!
It’s been no secret that training in Japan has been a goal for the Laird of the Ring Champion and all of us here in SWA, and especially his trainer Damo O’Conor, are extremely proud to have him fulfill his ambitions and represent SWA in Japan!
You can see Joe in action before he leaves at SWA’s huge New Testament double header event as he completes in a triple threat on Friday June 1st in Govan’s Pearce Institute before tackling Jack Gallagher in a Laird of the Ring title defense the very next night at St Brides Hall, Motherwell. For further informaiton on the event and how you can see Joe before he heads to Japan, click here for our events schedule and ticket information.
From all of us backstage… well done Joe! And good luck!
